C. Hassan Mayfield

A native of Harlem New York, C. Hassan Mayfield is a Social Justice Credible Messenger. He has dedicated himself to a life-long mission of assisting underserved populations to bring about personal self-actualization, financial empowerment and community redevelopment.

As a Change Agent of his community, he has continually worked with other socially responsible local businesses and private citizens, in organizing charitable events for at-risk youth; ex-offenders; the presently incarcerated, and other disadvantaged segments within the local community. Being a formerly incarcerated citizen as well, Hassan has immersed himself in the field of social justice, receiving awards for public speaking engagements, life-coaching and earning certifications to continue his knowledge from several institutions such as CCFY, and the Institute of Transformative Mentoring at the New School University, for his work as a Credible Messenger. Understanding the power of collective work and unity, Hassan founded The Harlem F.U.N.D. Inc, a community based organization, to support underprivileged people and assist other social organizations for functions and events, such as Back-to-School supplies giveaways and food drives. With Hassan’s leadership, The Harlem F.U.N.D. has consistently been on the frontlines in the struggle to decrease violence within Harlem and The Bronx, utilizing the Cure Violence methodology.

Among many other endeavors, Hassan assists young peoples’ personal development with Transformative Mentoring and Restorative Justice programs. He goes above and beyond to bring joy to community children with Christmas/Kwanzaa toy and book drives, coat giveaways and various youth events. Hassan has also provided hope and encouragement to detainees with Rikers’ Island Outreach programs and many other programs and workshops for the less-fortunate, underserved members of the community.

As the Executive Director of The Harlem F.U.N.D. Hassan continues to serve the disconnected and underprivileged residents of Harlem and beyond, by currently maintaining the Community Food Outreach program in Harlem and The Bronx. Also, due to his work as a Credible Messenger and Community Organizer, he tirelessly travels and networks with other grassroots community activists in other states across the country, assisting local social justice Change Agents in either establishing organic community organizations, or opening up The Harlem F.U.N.D. branches to assist in their respective struggles to fight for social justice.
